Since 1972, Academie du Vin has shared the joy of wine, becoming a distinguished centre of wine education in Japan for nearly four decades and a leading presence across Asia.
Founded in Paris in 1972 by the renowned British wine critic Steven Spurrier, Académie du Vin was established in Japan in 1987 as the country’s first dedicated wine school. For nearly four decades, we have remained true to our founding philosophy: to share the joy of wine with those who love it as part of everyday life.
Today, Académie du Vin offers a diverse range of education for everyone from complete beginners to aspiring wine professionals and industry experts, with programmes tailored to different levels of experience and learning goals. Beyond wine, we also offer courses exploring sake, other beverages, food and cheese, reflecting our belief that wine is best understood as part of a broader culture of food and drink.
We provide internationally recognised qualifications, including WSET and Wine Scholar Guild programmes, alongside Japanese wine qualifications. With a long-standing heritage and a strong presence in Japan, Académie du Vin is one of the leading providers of wine and beverage education in Japan and a prominent centre for wine education in Asia.
